Sunday 19th October

Passage for the week: Matthew 22:15-22

This passage deals with an issue that we face as Christians today – what comes first? We straddle a line between faith and ‘normal life’. We live in a world focused on having, on doing. Personal happiness is the goal to aim for – and to achieve that we have to possess this, or act in a certain way. The ‘me’ first syndrome. And it can be difficult not to just fall in to the expectations of society. As a Christian, my priorities must be different. My job is to love God, and to love others as he loves them. In whatever way I can. It impacts on how I spend my money, how I vote, what I say….And for me, loving others involves talking to people, caring for them, praying for them, supporting them, walking alongside them as they try to find their own path through life.
