14th December 2014 – Advent 3

Passage of the week: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-20

This Sunday was Gaudete Sunday, ‘Rejoice’ Sunday. It’s a time when we focus on the joy of our faith, and where that joy comes from.

To quote Henri Nouwen : “Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.”

So, exploring the thought of joy a bit further, here is a reflection for you to enjoy:

The angel whispers deep within

‘God give you joy’

When all around seems dark

When peace is disturbed

When thoughts run riot through my mind

When my heart longs for something more

Joy remains

Buried deep

Delight of hope and trust

Of love beyond all understanding

Joy of faith

Joy within

Stirred by angel whispers

Into dance
