Sunday 26th July 2015 – The little things

Text of the week: John 6:1-21

I believe in miracles. Very odd of me, in this day and age. But I believe God can do far more than we can ever imagine. From the little things to the big things. The reading this week is the story of the loaves and fishes. 5 loaves and 2 fishes feeding 5000 people. Improbable? Perhaps. Impossible? No. Not with a God who can create worlds.

For me the biggest miracle is not that God takes loaves and fishes, blesses them and turns them into a meal for thousands. But that God takes whatever we have to offer and uses it. And in the offering and the blessing, the little we have to offer him is turned into something big. The little time, energy, resources we have, when offered to God, are magnified out of all proportion. What it takes is the willingness to offer. To open our  minds to possibilities. And to step back and allow miracles to happen in our lives. Do you believe in miracles?
